There are so many diet programs out there that it is very easy to
become engrossed in all the 'hype', but the next time you read a weight
loss ad in the paper or hear about a new supplement which will
miraculously change your weight overnight, it may be beneficial to look
at all the facts before believing these outrageous claims. Even if some
of these 'miracle cures' do work in the short term, it becomes
increasingly unlikely that they will work in the long term as some of
them can have a detrimental effect on your health.
Here are the types of phrases you may be beneficial to avoid when looking for long term weight loss solutions:
• "You can Lose Weight without Exercising" - Let's face it, if it was as easy as taking a pill there would be no overweight people! Permanent weight loss takes time, dedication and a lot of effort on your part. Skip the 'miracle cure' products.
• "This diet will keep the weight off for good" - Now come on... are you really gonna believe that? Permanent weight loss requires a lifestyle change, on-going maintenance and dedication is a must.
• "Finally! A Fat Loss Program that works for everyone!" - One size fits all programs simply do not work, this is because they are mainly too generic and don't focus on the specific needs of the individual such as body type and metabolic rate. It is always best to go for programs which look at your specific body rate and your metabolism.
• "Rapid Weight Loss Claims: Lose 20 pounds in 20 weeks" - You should ideally be looking to lose an average of 1 to 2 pounds a week, rapid weight loss can be detrimental to your overall health and can also be bad for your skin's elasticity.
• "Scientifically Proven" - Most of these claims have very little evidence to back them up. Here is the sort of stuff that you should be able to answer if the product really has been scientifically proven. Who did the research? What was the size of the study sample? Was the product tested on humans/mice etc? Has the research been published in a medical journal? If you can't answer these sorts of questions, you should think twice about believing the 'research' that was undertaken.
• "Fat Digestion and Absorption are Blocked by this pill - There is little to no possibility that you will e able to completely block the digestion and absorption of fat by taking a pill. It just doesn't work like that. If you want to get rid of fat in your body... eat less fat! It is very simple really!
Remember that there are no quick fixes to long term weight loss. There are some very bogus programs out there that will try to pretend there is but don't be fooled. It is always advisable to go for a program which gives you slow steady advice on how to keep the weight off. It is also advisable to go for a program that looks at your metabolic rate and body type. So remember - if the label on the box of pills sounds too good to be true... it probably is!
