The Safe Way to Get Into Shape Before Summer

By Vanessa Summer

Bathing suit season is coming up quickly and this has people taking on new eating habits (shunning those of the winter season) and promising themselves that they will get in shape before the weather prevents them from hiding their bodies under heavy layers of clothing. So many individuals throw themselves straight into working out all the time because they are desperate to lose weight and get into shape before anybody gets to see their body. Sadly, working to get in shape too fast could really hurt your health. Doctors everywhere agree that it won't help you to merely hop into a daily workout routine. So what should you do to get in shape prior to bathing suit season getting here?

Before you decide to do anything else, you need to see your physician. Ask for a complete physical check up. This will let you discover your best beginning for working out and getting in shape. Your doctor will help you learn how much you should weigh and what your body mass index should be as well as letting you know if you have any special health conditions that you need to remember when you start working to get in shape. Your health care provider will help you construct some food guidelines so that you can also work to get your diet under control.

Begin your efforts bit by bit. Trying to run lots of miles right away is not good. A good program for working your way into shape is Couch to 5K. This is a system that improves the distance and time you spend running until you are ready to take on a 5K run. Obviously it takes more than running to get in shape. Weight training and also cardiovascular training are important too. If you don't have time for all of these, try to find a swimming version of Couch to 5K-this way you'll work your whole body and build all of your systems safely and over time.

Find a support group. Sure gaining excess fat can be uncomfortable, but you stand a much better chance of losing weight and getting into shape if you find a few people to work with. You can work with each other to take in good food and get regular exercise--these are the people who can check out weight loss group meetings with you, exercise with you and more. For people who are not comfortable doing this with people they know "in real life" they can find emotional support on the net. There are lots of internet support groups established for people who want to lose weight.

The actual truth is that it can take time to get rid of weight and get your body into decent shape. The sooner you start to adjust your diet plan and training habits the better off you will be. The sooner you begin your efforts, the easier it'll be to work on building your body slowly and over time. Try to keep in mind this is a situation when slow and steady really does win the race: your health and body will thank you for your efforts in bathing suit season.
